Review from Bethany in California

"I loved reading this fun little book! I have been called to serve in Portugal, and leave in September.  When you are preparing to serve a mission everyone tells you all these different things to do before you go, what to study, and what it's going to be like.  Eventually they all end up sounding the same.  But this book was very different!  It showed in detail what to expect on the mission, and how to handle a companionship!  It was personal and real.  I loved the part about still being yourself on the mission.  Follow the rules, duh, but your're allowed to show your personality and weirdness and even indulge in some shoe shopping on P-days!  I also love that they have remained close friends over the years and I hope on my mission I will create a friendship with my companions like Alicia and Paige have!"

Inside our "Handbook"

We wanted to give you all more insight into what our book contains.  There is so much one could cover about missionary work but we really wanted to hone in on the feelings and experiences common to all missionaries.  We put a lot of thought and consideration in what we felt sister missionaries would benefit from.

The first chapter delves into the MTC and how you learn to adjust.  The next chapter flows nicely into learning how to adjust to the field.  Of course we must address the little fact that you live, work, eat, sleep, study, teach, exercise, breathe with another sister for 18 straight consecutive months.
We talk about the importance of service and being an example to the youth.  We wrap it up with an emphasis on being yourself along with working through uncertainty and discouragement.
Interspersed in the chapters are our own experiences and stories that relate.

When we returned from our missions we wanted to encourage every young woman to ponder the possibility of serving. There is so much more to missionary service than you can know unless you experience it first hand.  Our hope is that this book will give young women a real, humorous, insightful, helpful take on what it's like to be a missionary.  There is a new huge army of sister missionaries ready to get out there and we couldn't be happier! Let's do this, girls.

Jill from Florida

I read your book last night.  Loved it.  I was laughing out loud in bed while my hubby was trying to sleep.  It was perfect.  Great balance of stories, information, advice and spiritualness.

Kindness

The last couple of days have been a success.  We appreciate all of the love and support towards us and our book.  We have enjoyed the reactions and comments from people who are reading it.

Thank you for all of the "brotherly/sisterly kindness"

Oh Yeah, This is Happening...

Hello! Welcome, welcome.  We both distinctly remember sitting outside a sandwich shop in San Diego, California shortly after our missions.  We were all hyped up from the mission and loved talking about it.  We came up with the idea to write a book for sister missionaries. We had experienced the best 18 months of our lives and we wanted to help future sister missionaries navigate their 18 months.  We brainstormed, joked around and left it as a wish we could, probably won't type of dream.  Well, that was over a decade ago.

When President Monson announced the new age requirement for sisters, we, like most of you, went crazy!  We couldn't believe it.  It rocked our world and re-energized our thoughts and feelings about our missions.  With that, our book (handbook) was finally born!

A copy of the book was given out yesterday so we figure that means we launched!  An unofficial launch to be sure, but that's how we roll. This is a book for any young woman who is thinking about serving, waiting to serve, or is now serving.  For those who have already served a mission, it's the perfect read for reminiscing about the good old days. Thanks for joining us, hope you like!
